Call for evidence on digital finance

1 Background

1. On 2 February 2021, the European Commission (EC) published a request for technical advice to the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) on digital finance and related issues and more specifically the regulation and supervision of more fragmented or nonintegrated value chains, platforms and bundling of various financial services, and risks of groups combining different activities.

2. On 25 May 2021, ESMA launched a public call for evidence to collect feedback from external stakeholders on those issues with a deadline for responses on 1 August 2021.

3. The call for evidence included 33 questions covering fragmented value chains, digital platforms and mixed activity groups (MAGs). Respondents were also invited to provide any other general observations that they thought could be relevant to ESMA’s work.
