Electronification of judicial proceedings in Hungary

I.Introduction

The question of the applicability of new information technologies (IT) in civil litigation and judicial administration constitutes a common subject of debate nowadays and it has been the subject-matter of numerous international conferences in recent years. The challenges arising from the development of IT have been discussed in several books and numerous essays. However, legal literature devotes unjustifiably little attention to the examination of what should be the starting point of all research of this type, i.e. to determining the limits of the applicability of information technologies. The primary method serving this purpose could be the examination of the basic principles and structure of proceedings and the establishment the "values” that cannot be banished from the procedures of the 21st century not even for the sake of effectiveness .
