EMIR and SFTR data quality report 2021

2.Executive summary

This is the second edition of report on data quality under the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) and under the Securities Financing Transactions Regulation (SFTR). The objective of the report is to provide a holistic view of state of play of both reporting regimes as regards the quality of the reported data and the actions that the national competent authorities (NCAs’) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) are taking to improve the quality of the data. EMIR and SFTR data play a pivotal role in the fulfilment of NCAs’ and ESMA’s supervisory mandates. As such, the data is used extensively for those purposes . Key highlights of the report are as follows:
