Reasons for publication

In accordance with the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR), the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) shall, at least annually, conduct a peer review analysis of the supervisory activities of all competent authorities in relation to the authorisation and the supervision of CCPs in the European Union (EU).

Contents

This peer review assesses the overall functioning of CCP colleges and provides an in-depth analysis of supervisory activities of National Competent Authorities (NCAs) of CCPs with respect to requirements set out in EMIR related to due diligence of clearing members. It is based on a specific methodology developed for mandatory peer reviews under EMIR.
